An obligatory 14-day quarantine for persons crossing the state border was introduced by a Regulation of the Minister of Health dated March 13, 2020 on the declaration of an epidemic emergency in the territory of the Republic of Poland ( Dz. U. item 433), which was maintained in the current Regulation of the Minister of Health dated March 20, 2020 on the declaration of an epidemic emergency in the territory of the Republic of Poland ( Dz. U. item 491).
The mandatory quarantine does not apply to professional freight and passenger transport drivers performing their professional activities. As of March 27, 2020, the mandatory quarantine also applies to persons crossing the border in the course of their professional activities in the Republic of Poland or a neighboring country.
A person in quarantine who is covered by sickness insurance, such as an employee, a contractor, a person engaged in non-agricultural activities, is entitled to sickness benefits – sick pay paid by the employer under Article 92 of the Labor Code or sick pay. In order to receive sickness benefits, a person in quarantine must submit a statement to the payer of the mandatory quarantine within 3 working days after the end of the quarantine.
